Vernon Kedky has compiled a Keddy Family History - The Scotsman and The English Lady, a Hiltz Book- The Brothers Huls/Hiltz “from Ortenberg to Lunenburg”, and Ronald T. Barkhouse and Vernon S. Keddy has compiled a Barkhouse Book - “100 Day Voyage to Freedom”. Vernon & Brenda Keddy in August 6, 2001 compiled a CD , “Written In Stone The Monuments of New Ross”. The New Ross Historical Society has published, “The History Of New Ross”, by Caroline (Broome) Leopold, 1966. The cover has been changed and at the back of the book is an errata sheet. The copyright of “The History of New Ross in the County of Lunenburg” was given to the New Ross Historical Society in 2006 by George Cornelius, grandson of the authoress - Mrs. Caroline (Broome) Leopold.
The purpose of the Historical Society is to promote research, to acquire, and preserve and bring together people interested in history, history of the area and surrounding region.
Our meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:30 P.M. except in December when we have our Christmas Party. At the Christmas Party we take up a collection for the Children’s Wish Foundation.
During the year we have informative guest speakers at some of our meetings which are enjoyed by our members. We, also, participate in the Christmas Festival.
